Economic principles are interwoven with the comforting aroma of masala-laden omelets or the sizzle of a fried egg. Embark on this journey into the heart of Indian kitchens, where the egg price is more than just a number. To provide you with the most up-to-date information on NECC Today Egg Rate, the above is a list of today egg rate in popular egg markets in India.

The Size of the Indian Egg Market

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization Corporate Statistical Database (FAOSTAT), India is the third largest egg producer, producing about 220 million table eggs daily. China is the first, producing about 1.3 billion eggs daily, and the USA is second, producing about 280 million eggs daily. The egg industry in India is growing by 8-10% each year due to increasing awareness about health.

The average Indian eats about 60 eggs yearly, the average American 290, and the average Chinese 300. According to nutritionists, each person should consume 180 eggs annually. Since Indians do not consume as many eggs as nutritionists advise, the Indian egg market has a lot of room to grow. While Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana produce the most eggs, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal consume many of them.

What is the NECC?

The Indian poultry industry faced challenges at the start of the 1980s. Many farmers were forced to close their doors due to declining egg prices that were below their cost of production. In response to this crisis, a group of dedicated farmers led by Dr. B.V. Rao Ji and Ch. Jagapati Rao Ji launched a national mission. By organizing more than 300 gatherings, they brought together chicken farmers nationwide under the impactful catchphrase “My Egg, My Price.”

In May 1982, this movement officially registered the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC). Two weeks later, on May 14, the NECC started brashly announcing egg prices. For the industry, this turned out to be a turning point. The NECC’s effects went well beyond price regulation. They implemented various programs that significantly improved the egg industry.

“Sunday ho ya Monday, Roz khao anday” (Whether it is Sunday or Monday, eat eggs daily) is the new slogan that the NECC came up with to summarize its mission. Throughout the week, this slogan highlights the nutritional advantages of eggs and the significance of consuming them regularly.
